Car wreckage discovered after Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza Strip

On October 7, five people were reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip targeting those who participated in the Gaza attack.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the target of the airstrike. He also worked for the charity World Central Kitchen (WCK).

WCK said it was heartbroken to report that a vehicle carrying staff had been attacked and was seeking more details, but added it had “no knowledge” of whether anyone in the vehicle was connected to the October 7 attack.

The strike took place Saturday in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, according to the Palestinian state news agency Wafa.

Photos circulating on social media showed a white sedan lying on the side of the road with its roof caved in and partially burned.

Video taken inside the morgue showed numerous burnt belongings with the WCK logo, including laptops, clothing, and ID badges.

Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that all five dead were Palestinians, and three, including the head of the WCK kitchen in the Gaza Strip, were WCK employees.

The man said he took part in the attack on the kibbutz of Nir Oz, but added: “It is impossible to link the terrorist to a specific kidnapping attempt.”

Police said the attack was carried out in an “unmarked civilian vehicle” that was “not adapted for transporting aid.”

He then demanded from the WCK and the international community “an explanation and an urgent investigation regarding the hiring of workers involved in terrorist activities against Israel.”

“We are heartbroken to share that a vehicle carrying World Central Kitchen colleagues was hit by an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip,” WCK said in a statement.

“We are currently working with incomplete information and are urgently seeking more details,” he said.

“World Central Kitchen had no knowledge of any occupants of the vehicle claiming to be linked to the Hamas attack on October 7.”

He added that he would suspend his activities in the Gaza Strip.

“Our hearts are with our colleagues and their families during this unimaginable moment,” he added.
