Soaking Color

According to many designers, using one color for walls, trim, and ceilings (also known as color drenching) will continue to be very popular in the coming year.

“Paints can all have the same sheen. Or my personal favorite is to achieve different sheen on three different surfaces,” explains founder Suzan Wemlinger. Susan J Design. “Take it one step further and use lacquer to add color to your room. Now, that space will be a statement space!”

Pops of Chartreuse

Meet vibrant greenery in 2025 as well. Amy Youngblood InteriorsIt’s a bold step forward with light green. “Chartreuse is a unique combination of yellow and green that is energetic but not too bright,” she says. “I think it adds fun and tropical character to a room, especially when paired with neutral furniture.”

paint trim

On a related note, founder Kerri Pilchik said: Kerry Pilcheek DesignI agree that painting the trim the same or similar color as the walls will become an increasingly popular technique. “Now the white trim in the room looks almost unfinished,” she says, noting that painting the trim a different finish than the walls, such as an overall gloss, is a smart move.

Founder Kelly Gable gable interiorI also believe that contrast and accent trim would be over the top. “Gone are the days of the accent wall, and in its place is accent decor,” she says.

two tone cabinet

Give your kitchen a little more flair with a new approach to cabinetry. “We’re going to see an explosion of dual-tone painted cabinets,” says founder Melissa Oholendt. Ohho Interior. She cites examples like painting cabinet fronts one color and the interior a contrasting color, or using one color on cabinet doors or drawer fronts and complementing the molding trim in a different color. “We’ve seen this done in furniture for years, but now it’s starting to evolve into built-in products and we couldn’t be happier about it,” says the designer.

pretty purple

People won’t be afraid of purple next year, says Sallie Lord. Grayhunt Interior. “Purple is hot,” she says. “A mix of colors such as chartreuse, green, yellow and more will make a strong debut next year.”

Wemlinger expects more use of eggplant, plum, purple and mauve next year. “It’s not for everyone, but it can make a big impact if your space has the right needs,” she says. “I think consumers are ready for color, but they don’t necessarily want very bold or bright colors. They still want to be able to go back to their sanctuary and relax.”

Lots of bright green

Green in its many forms, especially bright shades of green, will make waves next year, says Lord. “Mint green and turquoise are coming out strong.” Weave one of these shades into your home for a classic coastal-inspired look no matter where you live.
