Aaron Rodgers is officially back on American soil.
Rodgers, the Jets’ 40-year-old quarterback, missed the team’s mandatory minicamp earlier this month in what coach Robert Saleh deemed an “unexcused absence,” and there were rumors that the quarterback was overseas somewhere.
Marques Valdes-Scantling, a former teammate of Rodgers’ with the Packers, joined FS1’s “The Herd” on Thursday and told host Jason McIntyre that he would be working out with the quarterback in the Los Angeles area on Wednesday.
“Me and Aaron have been close friends since we were in Green Bay. I reached out to him and told him I was going to LA and said, ‘Let’s run some routes.’” Valdes-Scantling said.
“So we started doing it. We went out to high school and ran some routes together. We were like, okay. It was great.”
McIntyre, a longtime Jets fan, responded, “All you New York media, get out. Aaron Rodgers is back from Egypt! It’s no secret!”
Valdes-Scantling played for the Packers from 2018-2021, then spent two years with the Chiefs, winning Super Bowl championships both seasons with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid.
This offseason, Valdes-Scantling signed a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million with the Bills.
A day after Saleh said Rogers’ absence from camp was unexcused, he tried to defuse the situation.
“Aaron and I feel exactly the same way.” Saleh said. “Aaron and [and I] Or his teammates for that matter. We’ve got it covered. [Tuesday]. This is a bigger problem for everyone outside the building than it is inside. “That’s it.”
