Adam Silver Wants Female NBA Coach ‘Within 5 Years’

The game is constantly evolving. We are now seeing more African-American coaches and female referees than ever before. One of the accomplishments yet to be achieved is the NBA having its first female head coach. Commissioner Adam Silver wants to see that happen at least in the next five years.

“I’d be incredibly disappointed if we didn’t see our first female head coach in the NBA in five years,” Silver told NCAA reporter Bonnie Berstein. Recent Podcasts.

If anyone is the first to accomplish this feat in this unknown territory, it would be Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon.

Hammon spent eight years as head coach of Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs. She is already the first woman to serve as head coach in an NBA game in 2020. San Antonio played the Los Angeles Lakers. After being interviewed by several teams in the league, including the Portland Trail Blazers, the 45-year-old did not receive a head coaching position from any of the teams she interviewed for.

Hammon then took over as head coach in Las Vegas, leading the team to its first WNBA championship in her first season.

Hammon is a strong candidate to become a head coach in the NBA. So are Teresa Witherspoon and Kara Rolson. It won’t be long before women break that barrier.
