Afghanistan are scheduled to face Bangladesh in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series later this year. On Sunday, September 29, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host Bangladesh for a thrilling three-match ODI series.

The three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be played from November 6 to 11, with the exact venue to be announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) soon. The series was originally planned for July-August as part of the Afghanistan Future Tour Program (FTP), but was postponed due to extreme heat.

Bangladesh will face Afghanistan in an ODI series ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Now, ACB has decided to stage this series later this year and these ODIs will be crucial for both Bangladesh and Afghanistan ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. ACB went one step further after Afghanistan’s historic 2-1 series win over South Africa.

After the Bangladesh ODI, the Afghanistan cricket team is scheduled to visit Zimbabwe in December for an all-format series. Afghanistan’s recent one-off Test against New Zealand in Delhi turned out to be a huge disappointment for both the team and the ACB.

Both the boards agreed to proceed only with the ODI leg, ACB.

ACB said in an official press release, “The three-match ODI series will begin on November 6, with the second and third ODIs scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates on November 9 and 11, respectively. The exact location has not yet been confirmed.

These three ODIs, along with three T20Is and two Tests, were originally part of Afghanistan’s Future Tour Program (FTP) and were scheduled for July-August this year. However, the series was postponed due to extreme heat in the UAE and India, where ACB usually hosts its home events.

“After extensive discussions, both boards have agreed to proceed with only the ODI leg, which is critical to the preparation of both teams for the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February next year.”

Bangladesh is currently facing India in the Test series.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is currently touring India for a two-match Test series followed by a three-match T20I series next month. However, the Tigers suffered a crushing defeat of 280 runs in the first Test against hosts Team India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Talking about the second and final Test at Green Park in Kanpur, Rain was a huge threat to abandon the match with the teams yet to take the field after the first 35 overs on day 1. Bangladesh have three wickets to spare against India in Kanpur.

On the other hand, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi recently surprised everyone by ignoring MS Dhoni in his all-time ODI XI, going with Pakistan’s Rashid Latif as the wicket-taking batsman of his dream team.
