Jordan Thompson and Yoshihito Nishioka resumed play at the Atlanta Open Championship after a lengthy rain delay on Sunday, the second such interruption lasting more than four hours and 30 minutes.

After the first rain delay, the players were forced off the court due to heavy rain when the game resumed with a 3-point lead, with Thompson leading 6-4, 4-5, 30/15. The players returned to the court at 11:30 p.m. local time.

The 30-year-old Thompson is looking for his second tour-level title of the season after winning in Los Cabos. If he wins, it will be his first win over Japan’s Nishioka, who leads the Lexus ATP head-to-head series 4-0. The Australian will climb to a new career-high No. 29 in the PIF ATP Rankings on Monday.

Nishioka, 28, is aiming for his third tour title and first since Seoul 2022.
