Well, it was as expected.

That happened.

The U.S. women’s national basketball team opened its Olympic campaign with a dominant group win over Japan, 102-76.

The US team showed tremendous strength in the second half.

But watching this game, it was clear to me that the leaders of this team were Asia Wilson and Brianna Stewart.

I think they played really great.

Combined, they made 21 of their 31 shots.

Speaking of leading through efficiency, Asia had a double, 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Stewie had 22 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

I think the US team used their size and height advantage well over Japan to score a lot of points, and Chelsea Gray set the tone well from a point guard standpoint.

She had 13 assists in 20 minutes, with two substitutes particularly notable.

One of them was BG, who had 3 assists, 9 rebounds and 11 points.

And Sabrina Jane looked very comfortable and composed in her 55th Olympic debut. She made three 3-pointers, 3-of-7, and had five assists.

There was a lot of positive talk about Team USA in this win, but I think there were some areas where they needed to improve. The chemistry on the defensive side was really the issue. I think there were a lot of times throughout the game where there was a lack of communication or mistakes on defense, and there wasn’t a lot of time to play together.

So I’m really looking forward to seeing the same defensive trend in our next game against Belgium on Thursday.

However, he performed well on offense, recording 35 assists on 42 shots.

In terms of sharing basketball, it doesn’t get any better than this. Team USA’s 56th consecutive Olympic title, every player on the roster today played, and everyone scored today, so it was a great day for Team USA.
