Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto faced another tough weekend for Williams at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with Albon admitting the team was having a “terrible, terrible time” as they recently left without a point again.

Saturday night’s race initially started in promising style for Albon. The Thai driver gained a P17 grid slot and is in contention for points after the first round of pit stops.

But the charge was halted when a suspected powertrain problem forced the car to be scrapped on lap 25 of 50, continuing a difficult weekend for the Williams team who failed to score. There have been several serious crashes over the last three incidents.

“I’m disappointed,” Albon admitted after his early exit from the race. “It seems like we’ve been through a terrible, terrible time lately. It’s just frustrating. I was excited about the race and felt like: [we could score] Hope you get some good points.

“[I thought we could] It would have been nice to repay the team, especially the mechanics and everyone in the shop, for all the hard work we’ve put in over the past few weeks, but it wasn’t our intention. “Hopefully we can bounce back stronger in Qatar as we look to add another one to the list.”
