Arne Slot has a chance to equal Bob Paisley and break 131-year-old record against Man United – Liverpool FC

Arnold Slot could replicate Bob Pesley’s last feat by leading Liverpool to victory over Manchester United – and we’re all dying to see it happen!

Slot is aiming to become the first Liverpool manager to win his first game against United since Bob Pesley in November 1975.

The Dutchman became only the second manager in Liverpool’s history to secure an away league win over United, following George Kay’s 5-2 win at Old Trafford in November 1936.

If Liverpool stop United’s goal, Slot will become the first manager in 131 years to keep three clean sheets in his opening three league games, and the first manager in top-flight history to do so.

It’s a simulated world

Salah has scored six Premier League goals at Old Trafford, the most by an away player in the competition’s history, ahead of Steven Gerrard’s five.

He set a record by scoring in four consecutive league games at Old Trafford.

Salah has now scored more goals against United (14 in 15 games) than against any other team. That total also includes the most league goals scored by a player from either team in a single game (11).

The 31-year-old is yet to score in Liverpool’s opening three games of the season. The last player to do so was Sadio Mane in 2017/18.

4 important appearances?

Virgil van Dijk is set to make his 200th league appearance for Liverpool.

Diogo Jota could make his 100th league appearance for the Reds. He has scored 42 goals for the Reds and Liverpool have never lost in the 35 top-flight games he has scored in.

Andy Robertson could make his 300th appearance for Liverpool in all competitions, becoming the 13th Scottish player to reach the milestone for the club.

Kostas Tsimikas is finally set to play his 50th league game for Liverpool.

The Reds have scored in each of their last seven visits to Old Trafford in all competitions and a goal today would set a new club record of eight goals.

Liverpool are aiming to keep four consecutive clean sheets in all competitions for the first time since April 2022.

The last time they won four straight league games was in March 2023 (of five), one of which was a 7-0 win over United.

Interesting referee choice…

Manchester-born Anthony Taylor will coach the match.

He has refereed four of these clashes, three of them at Old Trafford. Liverpool have won twice – 4-2 (May 2021) and 5-0 (October 2021) – and then drew 2-2 last season.
