Arne Slot offers positive hints about Alexander-Arnold’s LFC future

Arne Slot will have been as pleased with his team’s performance as he has been frustrated with the media’s constant contract questions. But he revealed a little more than usual.

When asked if Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract was his biggest concern, the coach responded: “No, I don’t think it’s negative at all.

“He’s playing really well, he’s scored a great goal and you can tell by the way he celebrates it.

“I don’t think I need to say more about it. I’m really happy with Trent as well as Mo and Virgil. So for me it makes no difference.

“To the outside world, there’s probably more going on in the media around Trent than the other two, but yeah, I’m happy with all three right now.”

Certainly his vice-captain’s secret congratulations seemed to suggest it had something to do with ongoing contract negotiations.

Looking at the Scouser’s Instagram post, he certainly seems to be trying to show everyone that talks are underway to extend his stay in Merseyside.

We won’t know until the deal is completed and officially reported on the club’s website. But until then, the future of our No.66 will be discussed as often as the futures of Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

While we’re leading the league, these conversations almost distract from any focus on whether we can maintain that lead.

However, it would be nice to see the Dutchman not face the same questions repeatedly before and after every game we play.
