At least 3 dead in Turkish airline attack

Authorities confirmed that at least three people were killed and 14 injured in a terrorist attack at the headquarters of an airline company near the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Initial images shown by the NTV television channel showed a huge cloud of smoke in front of the entrance to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the capital.

Firefighters and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Local media reported that an explosion occurred around shift shift and employees evacuated to a shelter.

Some stores posted photos showing one of the suspects jumping through the turnstiles and entering the building with a gun.

Ankara Mayor Mansur Javas said in a statement Wednesday morning that he was “very saddened” to hear the news.

“We pray for God’s mercy on our martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded. We condemn terrorism. My condolences.”
