Manchester United manager and Eric ten Hag team-mate Benny McCarthy is reportedly set to leave the club after failing to offer him a new contract that would see him remain at Old Trafford.
McCarthy joined United as strikers coach in July 2022 following Ten Hag’s appointment as manager.
Last season, he was credited with the improvement and incredible form of most of United’s forwards, but especially Marcus Rashford, who scored a career-high 30 goals in all competitions.
McCarthy is a popular member of United. The evidence can be seen in the way most of the players celebrated with him after last weekend’s FA Cup final.
But amid uncertainty over Ten Hag’s future in the Red Devils’ dugout, The Mirror reports McCarthy is now ready to part ways with the team.
Despite a brilliant win over Manchester City at Wembley, Ten Hag is still not safe and the possibility of the Dutchman being sacked remains.
According to a recent report by The Peoples Person, United are currently conducting an end-of-season review to determine whether the 54-year-old remains on the field.
Naturally, the speculation surrounding Ten Hag has had a domino effect on his backroom staff. Following last Saturday’s FA Cup win, Steve McLaren was asked whether he would remain at United next season. McLaren could not give a clear answer and only said, “We will see.”

The paper explains that offers for the 46-year-old coach are already on the table.
In early March of this year, McCarthy said in an interview that he wanted to become a manager himself. He seems to be well on his way to realizing his dream.
