There are few people who deserve potentially innovative winter in BIG Apple Baseball than Bernie Williams. Bernie Williams has been a 16 -year career with the Yankees and records .297, gaining four gold gloves from the centerfield and helping Bronx Bombers to win four World Series titles from 1996 to 2001.
Williams took several minutes to talk to Yankees, Mets and Juan Soto on Thursday. On Thursday, we interviewed before the day of disease. He is recognized every February 28. He has been trying to raise awareness of epileptic lung disease since 2001 when Williams’ father Bernabe SR. died of Quarathic Pibrosis.
Williams, a classic guitarist who records two albums every year and explores the country, teamed up with vocal coach Eric Vetro to form a team for lung health.
Williams said, “I was born in this concept of my love for music and the healing power of music.” “When dealing with difficult things like an epileptic lung disease, anxiety and everything between them are related to the challenge of such a situation. And not only patients but also caregivers who have to be in a good heart. ”

Q: Did you be surprised when Juan Soto crossed the village?
Bernie Williams: “I will not be disappointed. I will not criticize professional players who try to find a better situation. For any reason, this has had more financial reasons, and (that) still wants to stay in New York, and (and) professional athletes have a good opportunity to play in one of the best sports markets in the country. But I think he has done a good job and has a chance to go to the World Series for the team that will give him a chance. But at the same time he can change the team. They have different types of ownership so that they can be in a better position to win more championships. But I think the player is actually responsible for his body and career. Because I’m playing for a short time as possible, I want to think about all possible possibilities without actually turning a stone.
“In that sense, I will have the opportunity to secure the genealogy of many generations with all these contracts, with the amount of money that players make these days. I definitely wish him the best. I think he is one of the best players in the league, and hopefully he will be able to achieve his dream as a team that eventually plays. I think it will be mets for a while (laughs). ”
Q: What did you think about the movement of the Yankees?
Bernie Williams: “I think that’s one of them. They lost a very valuable player. In many ways, there is a claim that he has made it so far in the season and the World Series. But at the same time, by not signing him, they could get a lot of players with the money they saved. The sum of the parts can be better than one player, and many people can help them in their own way. The Yankees will be a better team and may probably be a little deeper than last year. I think the alternatives they should take are different, but they would have done their best in the situation they faced. ”
Q: What do you think of a new outfielder Jasson Dominguez and Cody Bellinger?
Bernie Williams: “I’m really excited about the fact that Jasson will have a year to prove his value. I was very happy to meet him two years ago and it was very unfortunate to have all the injuries he experienced, but yes, the potential of the word comes to mind every time you mention his name. And Cody -I used to see him as a child running in a clubhouse when he was playing. Who thought he would be one of the best players in the league as a great player? I think he has a little bit of zigzag in his career, but I think he has a good opportunity to play for the team he played. Perhaps they need-definitely a power blow left-handed batter, in many ways in the same way as SOTO, this is an alternative to pay dividends. ”
Q: How deep is the Yankees-Meat competition?
Bernie Williams: “Oh, I think it’s going to be a demo Ninet in the regular season (laughs). The best thing is to play the World Series in 2000 and 25 years later. It looks like a kind of fitting. Last year, it seemed to have the right elements they could do. Perhaps this year’s Mets strengthen the way with these great players, maybe perhaps perhaps and the Yankees are obvious -we think there can be a chance to happen.
Q: Have you seen a free agency experience in Pete Alonso’s free agency? (Self -Yankee Williams seemed to be likely to sign Boston Red Sox before signing a seven -year contract with the Yankees in the Thanksgiving EVE 1998, and Williams finished his career with the Yankees.
Bernie Williams: “A lot of things had to work. I think there is a problem with the timing. When I moved to stay with the Yankees, I knew that most of my career would play with the Yankee. I think his situation is a bit different because he did not sign Mets and long -term trade. So it gives him a chance to explore his situation.
“But in that word, it will always have to talk about the organization’s own cultivation (player) that has always signed on you. In most years (with them), I have a chance to see most careers, giving them a chance to play for most years (with them). And he may have a chance to join the Mets regardless of whether it is planned. I think it will be the power to be aggressively speaking in my mind with SOTO, Lindor, and myself. I’m not too personal about their (pitcher), but I know that the owner has a little bitinner attitude as long as the owner wants to spend money and wants to make Mets a great competitive team. It is always good to have the owner who is willing to do so for the team. ”
Q: What do you think about the team that consumes SPREES?
Bernie Williams: “By the way, I accept the wicked empire as a compliment (laughs). However, as a result, you can do your best to organize a team that looks great on paper as a team, a general manager, and a front office. You have to play the game because you never know how the year will develop. I think victory is a great equalizer. When you win, many things can be thrown under the rug. But I think you feel really good about how your team will deal with adversity. And it has the core of a good veteran soldier who handles and calms such situations and keeps them from crossing the edges. What the team needs is really calm, and I think this Mets have enough veteran power in their ranking. I think it’s really interesting to see how this year is developing. ”
Q: Aaron Judge won the AL MVP last year and Francisco Lindor was second in the NL MVP voting. Of course, Juan Soto is currently in NL. What is the probability that New York sweeps MVP votes this season?
Bernie Williams: “I think the probability is good. The biggest problem was whether SOTO could play in New York. And he proved that he could do so with the best people who came to the city. And the judge just became a perennial all -star and MVP type, and there were several questions about longevity and health every year. If you do all kinds of panning for the last three to four years, the city will see the best players who have played in the history of the game in both teams. I think what the city has is good. ”
Q: Do you think the Yankees can end the title drought this season?
Bernie Williams: “I think it will be really interesting. I know that the latest repetition of the Yankees has worked hard to get an ambiguous World Series Ring. They have been teamed for several years, sometimes changed to different ways in a given year, one innings, and especially in the postseason. I think the Yankees have experience on both sides of the coin. After a few years of success, I experienced how difficult it was to go through some adversity every year. I think they are too close to all together, and this year can be harmful to them.
“It’s really difficult and very difficult to achieve. Going back to his tenure as a Yankee, I think it’s been a few years we won. We made it look a little easier than it actually (laughs). The team that struggled to repeatedly think that this was very difficult for a year. And even if you win a year, it’s very difficult to see what happens and get up in order to repeat or hunt the end of the year and the end of the year. It is a sort of evidence of what we could achieve during its tenure. I think these people are preparing for the best years better than them. I think it’s time to organize it all. And this year can be harmful to them. ”
Q: The Yankees gathered the dynasty running at the beginning of the extended playoff system. Do you think that some of the reasons for the success of the Yankees were because they didn’t know how difficult the playoff format was?
Bernie Williams: “I think that’s true. And sometimes I think ignorance is happy (laughs). I think that’s a very extensive attitude in the organization, starting with Steinbrrenner. The first thing to do every year after the World Series game was probably within two to three days. He will have a meeting, starting what will happen next year, and this attitude that does not give the laurel to enjoy success without actually rest. He was everything about what will happen next year. And all that attitude was applied to us. And it was a kind of cultural work. From the manager to the coaching staff and the front office, the clubhouse culture helped to win the postseason and not arrive in the World Series. It was a duty. We made it very difficult for the teams who followed us (laughs). And I think it’s time to come back. ”
