Here’s the most important post of the season: The best candles for fall. Or the best scented candles for fall? Either way, you’re in the right place. Whether you’re looking for that perfect pumpkin scent, want to feel like you’re nestled among crisp leaves, want a more masculine, smoky vibe, or crave a warm vanilla vibe, I’ve found the best candles so far.
As I’ve gotten older, candles have become more and more important in my daily life. I think scents bring back so many memories and nostalgia. That’s why I have a collection of almost 50 candles (yes, really). For me, fall scents are definitely the best and I like to light them regardless of the season. So grab your pumpkin scented latte and a thick sweater and let’s light them (sorry, I had to).
When we first moved, my mom came to see me and asked if I could bring anything from the States. I asked her for just two things: salsa and Bath and Body Works candles. My mom didn’t realize how heavy these two items would be, and our suitcases got damaged on the way there. My sweet mom helped me carry our suitcases up the stairs and all the way to our house in Germany. But I had to bring the fall scented candles!
Now, we are fully allowed to burn fall scented candles. When Starbucks offers fall drinks, we can burn fall scented candles too.
Best Fall Candles
I’m obsessed with this scent! It’s a woody scent with a perfect blend of marshmallow fireside and pumpkin. It’s October in a bottle! B&BW has done it with science and they have to sell this every year.
sheave!! Anthropologie Pumpkin Clove and Target Pumpkin Spice
Last year, I would have easily said that Anthropologie Pumpkin Clove is the best pumpkin scented candle or the best scented candle of all time. It is very strong and leaves a wonderful scent throughout the house. I especially love burning it when guests come over. Plus, it comes in a nice glass jar with a gold lid. However, it is a bit pricey at $32 each.
And… Target has a pumpkin-scented candle that competes with Anthropologie. They smell eerily similar. They both have a creamy pumpkin scent with notes of vanilla and cinnamon. But do they burn the same? I tested them and they both have a very strong scent that fills the whole house with a nice, calming scent.
I would say the Target one is a bit sweeter and the Anthropologie one is spicier. The Target one is only $12 so it’s a really good deal!
These two are some of the best candles for fall.

Bath & Body Works Pumpkin Vanilla Cream
Times Heylum Pumpkin Gold Candle
Nest Pumpkin Tea
I love chai scents and it’s rare to see this in a candle. Add a classic pumpkin scent with cardamom and ginger and this is a great candle for everyday use.
Bath and Body Works has great candles for all seasons, but they really shine in the fall. Their 3-wick candles are some of the best you can find, they are made with essential oils and burn for up to 40 hours, so you know you are getting a great deal. Plus, if there is an issue with your candle after ordering it, they will send you a new one right away, no questions asked. I have quite a few Bath and Body Works candles, so it was really hard to narrow it down, but I finally did! Here are some of the best ones.
Sweater weather
The strong woody and sage notes make this one of my favorite candles for any season. It makes me want to curl up in a thick knit and curl up with my favorite book. I think this scent would work well for both men and women and isn’t overly sweet. For me, this is a scented candle that makes me dream about the first day of fall, going to school in my uniform, and going to a Friday night football game. Haha.
Next to the marshmallow stove
Is this a winter candle or a fall candle? It doesn’t matter. It smells too good to worry about something so stupid. It’s sweet and smoky, and it makes you feel like you’re outdoors. I love this candle so much that I always keep a few with me, just in case.
umbrage
The perfect fall candle. Warm and inviting, leafy scents and earthy tones blended with spices make this a must-have for every season. The perfect candle for cozy fall nights, refreshing yet strong.
Hot Cocoa and Cream
Perfect Fall
This is a really light scent, different from the above scents. It’s a great combination of cranberry, spiced pumpkin, cloves, and apple, and it’s a sweet scent. This is a good choice for me because it’s different from my usual overly sweet scents!
flannel
Fall doesn’t always mean pumpkin. A rich blend of bergamot, mahogany, and musk makes for an easy-to-light candle. This is a great choice if you don’t want something too sweet or spicy.
Vanilla bean
If you want a great transitional scent that still has the sweetness of summer and the richness of fall, I love this scent. I think everyone will agree on the vanilla!
Pumpkin Pecan Waffles
If you love syrupy sweets, this scent is for you! With pumpkin spice and a sprinkle of brown sugar, it’ll satisfy your sweet tooth.
Paris Cafe
I almost didn’t buy it because I was skeptical about the coffee flavor. I’m so glad I did. The fresh roasted coffee and vanilla blend makes it one of my favorite scents. It’s so different from other scents and gives a warm vibe to the whole room. It burns easily all year round. I don’t drink coffee much, but this is really easy to burn. My parents are coffee lovers, so I gave it to them as a gift and they loved it. The packaging is also great!
There are so many great brands out there, but I’ll introduce a few of my favorites.
Not only is this candle pretty, but this forest-centric candle has notes of cedar and vanilla for a sensual, woody scent. It’s a very clean scent that pairs well with other richer scents.
This is definitely a high-end candle (it costs $68!), but it also makes a great gift and smells beautiful: berries, roses, and black currant leaves.
With refreshing orange blossom, pomegranate, and maple leaves, this candle is the perfect transitional fall candle. Light and airy.
Reviews are crazy good (4.5 out of 500 reviews). Caramel butter, cinnamon, hints of orange and apple create a beautiful scent.
If you like mason jar candles and funny sayings, there are plenty to choose from here. This store has great reviews and a ton of scents to choose from. I love caramel popcorn!
This vintage candle is really pretty (and unique) and smells great too. It’s a handcrafted soy wax candle in a vintage glass jar and would make a great gift. It has a rich, earthy scent!
This product I found on Amazon fills the room with hot cider as if I had just picked apples! It has a lovely homey scent with hints of cranberry and orange. Plus, I love the bottle and the hand-written lettering. All of these candles are handmade.
Other candle essentials I like:
– Using a wick trimmer really helps reduce soot, smoke, and popping sounds.
If you love leaves, hayrides, and apple picking, these scents will make you feel like fall is here! Which scent is your favorite?
