Apple makes its own docking stations for the MacBook, but the main problem with first-party devices is that they are very limited in what they can do. For example, the Digital AV Multiport Adapter only comes with three inputs and a USB-C cable on the end. To compensate, Apple sells a number of third-party products on its online store, the best of which is CalDigit’s TS3 Plus Dock.

This one is similar to the others on this list, with 15 individual ports. To name a few, you get two Thunderbolt 3 inputs, five USB-A ports, and an SD card reader on the front. As you’ve probably guessed from that short array, this docking station can output video. In fact, it can output up to two displays simultaneously at 4K resolution at 60Hz. Or, if you have a single screen, you can send 5K video at a refresh rate of 60Hz instead.

The TS3 Plus Dock also works with older Apple laptops with Intel processors, making it backwards compatible.

If you want a version with more ports, Apple also sells a bigger sibling version. Caldigit TS4The same goes for digital stores.
