Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen will remain with the team in 2025.

After the 2021 season, the Giants went through another restart and parted ways with their manager and GM. Owner John Mara has hired Buffalo Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen as New York’s next GM. Schoen hired former Bills teammate and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as head coach.

During the Giants’ first three seasons, Daboll and Schoen’s roster took a step back. New York set a franchise record with 14 losses in 2024. Ten of those losses were consecutive losses. After finishing this season 3-14, the Giants are surprisingly not making any changes. Owner John Mara is confident Daboll and Schoen will move forward. However, the tandem of coach and GM is walking on thin ice toward 2025.

Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen will return to the Giants in 2025

The 2022 season marked New York’s first year with Brian Daboll as head coach and Joe Schoen as general manager. In year one, Daboll and the Giants went ahead of expectations. New York took advantage of the lighter schedule and finished the season 9-7-1. That was good enough for the NFC’s sixth seed and the Giants went on the road to face the Vikings. The Giants won the wild card game but lost to Philadelphia in the divisional round. The 2022 success made Daboll Coach of the Year and the Giants had a bright outlook heading into 2023.

However, New York took a step back in 2023 and finished the season with 6 wins and 11 losses. Three different QBs made at least five starts for the Giants last season. Heading into 2024, New York needed a recovery season to feel confident about the future. The Giants did the exact opposite and took a step back from finishing in 2023. New York went 3-14 in 2024 and had the No. 3 pick in the 2025 draft. In Brian Daboll’s first year, the team won nine games. He recorded six in his second year and only three in his third season. Despite the team’s record, Daboll is safe in 2025.

Giants GM Joe Schoen made some questionable calls along the way. His two biggest ones were not re-signing Saquon Barkley or Xavier McKinney this offseason. Both players had All-Pro caliber seasons with their new teams. Schoen also signed Daniel Jones to a contract extension after the 2022 season, and New York cut Jones this season. Schoen could help turn the franchise around if New York can get a QB this offseason. Whether that’s through draft free agency. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are coming off the biggest seasons of their NFL careers.
