Brittney Griner Shares Plans to Compete This WNBA Season

A little over a week ago, Brittany Griner was released from Russian custody and returned home. The WNBA superstar made her first official statement: Instagram Posts And she opened up about her return and her intention to compete next season.

“I also want to make one thing clear: I intend to play basketball for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA this season, and I look forward to saying ‘thank you’ to all of you who have advocated for me, written about me, and posted about me in the meantime.

When news of the 8-time All-Star’s release broke, the basketball world rejoiced and sent their best wishes and congratulations to the entire BG.

Greiner thanked her family, friends, supporters and faith for “keeping her going” while she was unjustly detained in Russia.

“I am grateful to everyone who has advocated for me, especially my wife Cherelle Griner, my family Lindsay Kagawa Colas, Casey Wasserman, the entire Wasserman team, Vince Kozar and the Phoenix Mercury, the WNBA players, the entire WNBA family, Terri Jackson and the WNBPA staff, my Russian legal team Maria Blagovolina and Alex Boykov, leaders, activists, grassroots organizations, Governor Richardson and Mickey Bergman of the Richardson Center, the Bring Our Families Home campaign, Roger Carstens and the SPEHA team, and of course, President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary Blinken, and the entire Biden-Harris Administration,” she wrote.
