Caitlin Clark joins Kelces to talk about Chiefs fandom and what makes her mom a ‘Swiftie.’

Clark, like many others who became Chiefs fans following the Kelce-Swift partnership, cleared up speculation that she, too, was not a fan of the bandwagon. She also said that Kelce is her favorite player.

“I have family in Kansas City and I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Des Moines is only three hours away from Kansas City, so this is the closest NFL team.” Clark said.. “My dad was a huge Chiefs fan growing up. People think I’m a bandwagon Chiefs fan. I’m like, ‘No, I was there before Patrick (Mahomes) and Travis.’ “I was a big fan because I either died or died.”

Clark said she made her mother a “Swiftie” after taking her to a concert, a term given to the Grammy winner’s biggest fans.

“My mom was begging me to take her,” Clark said. “She said, ‘I have to go, everyone is talking about it.’” I say, ‘Okay, okay.’

“It made my mom go all Swift. Two of my cousins ​​were there. It was a great time!”

While women’s sports, particularly the WNBA, are growing in popularity and viewership, Clark was asked about college sports.

Clark set the NCAA’s all-time scoring record while at Iowa in March, and used that as a slew of picks to become the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft. On that day’s broadcast, she was asked about the transfer portal.

“The transfer portal is crazy, especially in football. I think that’s where it’s the most crazy,” Clark said. “It’s kind of sad. We’ve lost a little bit of the amateur spirit of college sports, but that’s the world we live in.

“Now we have people in year 7 going to school for the fourth time. It’s getting more and more serious.”
