Paraguay 1-4 Brazil: Canary Islands win big 🏆
Brazil really turned up the heat this time! After a bit of a setback in their opening game against Costa Rica, Brazil got right back on track with a convincing 4-1 win over Paraguay.
Vinicius Junior was the star of the show, showing his class by scoring twice. The game started with a bit of drama. Brazil were awarded a penalty on the half-hour mark. Unfortunately, West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta failed to capitalise and sent the ball wide. But no harm, no foul? Just four minutes later, Paqueta redeemed himself by setting up Vinicius Junior’s first goal. All thanks to some great teamwork.
Before the half-time break, Savinho, who scored his debut goal for Brazil, swung a shot into the net to make it 2-0. The young star showed how quickly fortunes can change in football by taking advantage of a Paraguayan defensive mistake. And just before the whistle blew, Vinicius Jr. calmly grabbed a clearance to make it three goals.
But Paraguay were not going to let it go. Just after the break, Getafe’s Omar Alderete put his team on the board with a stunning long-range strike. Brazil weren’t done though. They were awarded another controversial penalty, this time converted by Paqueta to secure Brazil’s fourth goal.
Things got a little heated towards the end when Paraguay’s Andres Cubas was sent off for a rough tackle on Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz. Elsewhere, Colombia maintained their strong start with a 3-0 win over Costa Rica, and then set up an exciting clash with Brazil.
Brazil are back in form and I am excited to see what happens next. This tournament is heating up and I am all for it!
