I love a cozy afternoon macchiato, and lately I’ve been loving a caramel macchiato. This is one of my Starbucks copycat recipes. Here you can learn how to make a traditional macchiato. This version is closer to a latte macchiato, topped with milk foam and flavored with caramel. It’s sweet, caffeinated, and the perfect morning or afternoon snack, IMO.

home espresso maker
We’ve tried many espresso makers over the years, and here are our favorites at various price points and skill levels.
- cafe automatic espresso machine – Current computer. Since whole coffee beans are used, high-quality coffee beans can be used to produce high-quality espresso. It automatically creates espresso shots (no barista skills required) and includes a milk froth wand to heat and froth milk. We’ve been using this machine almost every day since we bought it 9 months ago and we absolutely love it! Available in three colors.
- Stovetop Espresso – The cheapest way to make espresso at home. This is more labor intensive and also requires grinding the beans for best results. However, this is a classic method that works great if done well.
- Breville Barista Touch – I bought it for a good friend as a wedding gift and he said he loved it. It’s an advanced machine that requires some barista skills to operate, but it’s a great home espresso maker.
- Nespresso Vertuo – For those who want an espresso maker that uses pods, this is my favorite. Depending on which pods you use, you can make either espresso or coffee.
