Growing up, pizza nights were always a huge hit in our house. Since then I’ve implemented it with my kids and they too are huge pizza fans. Choose homemade pizza instead of ordering expensive and unhealthy takeout or frozen grocery store pizza. I’ve tried several different versions over the years, but the latest is this Chicken Crust Pizza. This is a low carb pizza crust adapted from my Meatja recipe!
Chicken Crust Pizza
My kids and I love pizza crust made with ground beef, but this delicious version uses ground chicken instead. I also use 4 times the amount of Parmesan cheese in the crust. This combination will help you satisfy your craving for traditional pizza with a delicious, crunchy crust.
It’s also low-carb and naturally gluten-free, making it a good choice if you’re on a keto diet. Because it’s packed with healthy fats and nutrients, it’s much more filling than versions made with refined flour.
If you want a slightly thicker, chewier crust, roll out the chicken to about 1/2 inch thick. For a crispy crust, make sure it is about 1/4 inch thick. Thankfully, pizza “dough” is very forgiving and easy to work with!
Chicken Pizza Ingredients
The main ingredient here is chicken (of course!). However, you can substitute ground turkey if you prefer. And it might even be faster if you have a healthy canned chicken sauce that works. Some chicken crust pizza recipes call for shredded chicken, which adds a different texture.
And pizza isn’t pizza without your favorite toppings! We like to use a tomato sauce with lots of mozzarella cheese and fresh vegetables. Or you can opt for alfredo sauce for a creamier version. Here are some topping ideas:
- Sprinkle with Italian seasoning
- Sprinkle some good quality olive oil.
- pepperoni
- pimento
- red onion
- After cooking, top with fresh basil.
- black olives
- roasted peppers
- chopped sundried tomatoes
