It’s no exaggeration to say that the Kansas City Chiefs don’t need any quarterback help whatsoever.

If Patrick Mahomes is there, we’ll be a great team.

However, it never hurts to add insurance in case you get injured or something unexpected happens.

That’s why the Kansas City Chiefs decided to sign former Patriots starting quarterback Bailey Jaffe.

According to insider Jordan Schultz, Jaffe is set to join the practice squad.

According to the 53-man roster finalized earlier this week, the Chiefs include Mahomes and former Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz.

Both GM Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid made a smart move to bring in a starter from Jaffe, even if he’s just a practice squad player.

A fourth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2022, Jaffe has gone 4-4 in eight starts over the past two seasons under coach Bill Belichick.

Zappe also holds the NCAA single-season records for passing yards (5,967) and passing touchdowns (62).

It’s not uncommon for a Super Bowl champion to sign a former starter as a third quarterback just before the season begins.

With Jaffe in the building, Kansas City will have more insurance under center.

Judging by the state of their quarterback room, the Chiefs very well may have the best quarterback room in the league, especially considering Wentz was an MVP candidate in 2017.
