Democrat Colin Allred showed why Sen. Ted Cruz is in danger of losing his position during the Texas Senate debate.
Allred said of Cruz and 1/6:
I have to say that I cannot support the rioters and police officers on January 6th. You can’t. And that’s not fun. Because you are a threat to democracy. I was a senator and a member of the House of Representatives when we voted. I remember when you opposed the results in Arizona. All of you at home will remember where you were and what you were doing on January 6th.
I know where I am and I know where he is. I remember when they told me to reach under my seat to find my gas mask. I didn’t know we had that. Because they placed tear gas in the rotunda. Officers locked all the doors. We blocked the door. The president walks in to deliver the State of the Union address with furniture we normally use to hold paper.
I texted my wife, Allie, who was seven months pregnant with our son Cameron, and at home with our son, Jordan, who was not yet two years old. No matter what happens, I love you. I took off my suit jacket and was ready to defend my floor from the mob. At the same time, after he went around the country lying about the election, after he planned an attempt to overthrow that election, when the rioters came, Senator Cruz was hiding in a supply closet.
And that’s okay. I don’t want him to get hurt by the mob. I really don’t. This election is his responsibility. You cannot be patriotic even if your side wins. If for the first time in 250 years this project of ours, our shared project of America, fails to achieve a peaceful transfer of power, those responsible must be held accountable.
That’s why Liz Cheney is endorsing me, joining this campaign, and telling Texans around the world not to put Ted Cruz back in a position of authority. Because he did it once and he will do it again.

Everything Allred said was true. Ted Cruz was working behind the scenes to find a way to use the courts to overturn the election results. Rioters at the Capitol heard Cruz’s rhetoric and can be seen on video saying they were doing what Ted Cruz wanted when they breached the Capitol.
Ted Cruz was involved in an attempt to overthrow the government.
Republicans are warning Cruz is in trouble in the state. Senator Cruz has never been popular in Texas, but he continues to win because the state is heavily skewed red. That era could be coming to an end, as Allred devastated Cruz in a way not seen in previous campaigns.
