A day after announcing the Connecticut Sun’s new general manager. hired Rachid Meziane has been appointed as the new head coach of the franchise.
French-born Megien replaces Stephanie White, who was released in October after two seasons.

Megiane, 44, has coached French women’s team ESB Villeneuve d’Asc since 2019, winning the league title in 2023-24 and leading the team to a runner-up finish in the EuroLeague last season.
Meziane also served as head of video analytics for the France women’s national team from 2014-21, before leading Belgium to gold at last year’s FIBA European Women’s Championship.
While in France and Belgium, Meziane coached several players currently in the WNBA (Kennedy Burke, Shavonte Zellous, Emma Meesseman, Julie Vanloo and Carla Leite).
The Sun is coming off a 28-12 season in which they finished four games behind the eventual WNBA champion New York Liberty in the Eastern Conference. After making the playoffs for eight straight seasons, they were eliminated in the league semifinals for the second straight year.
On Tuesday, the Sun announced that Tuck is the team’s new GM, replacing Darius Taylor, who will assume the role of chief basketball strategist and director of scouting.
