Since the inception of the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, the event’s October date has had to coexist with the college football season, a public relations hurdle in the gridiron-crazy city of Austin, Texas. This year, COTA is, uh, taking on the challenge head-on, offering special ticket packages to accommodate fans who want to attend the University of Texas Longhorns college football game, Formula 1 racing action, and music concerts all at COTA on the weekend of October 18-20.
The Longhorns will take on the University of Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, while COTA will host a Formula One Sprint and concerts by superstars Eminem and Sting, followed by a post-US GP celebration at the Two Friends Amphitheater on Sunday. COTA’s “Split the Uprights Package” offers a brand-new Friday/Sunday combo ticket option for those who dedicate Saturday to football. This new general admission Grounds Pass Friday/Sunday ticket package includes Friday practice rounds, Sprint qualifying, a Sting concert, and the US GP and post-race celebration at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater with Two Friends. The $289 package is less expensive than purchasing two single tickets to see both days together.
“There’s so much to do in Austin that weekend,” said COTA President Bobby Epstein. “I think October 21 should be a ‘holiday’ this year!”
