Davante Adams wasn’t particularly surprised that Joe Douglas was sent packing by the Jets.
The Jets wideouts are here. “Up and Adams” on FanDuel TV And he was asked about his reaction to the general manager being fired.
“It’s surprising, but it’s not,” Adams said. “Just because I know how the game is played.” “If the game isn’t winning and things aren’t looking the way you intended, something has to change.”
Douglas has held the position since 2019, and the Jets have been 30-64 during his tenure.
Adams was acquired by the Jets on October 15, and the wheels fell off the wagon with the team sitting at 3-8 and quarterback Aaron Rodgers looking like a shell of his former great self.
Coach Robert Saleh was fired after a 2-3 start. The team went 1-5 under interim coach Jeff Ubrich.
In an appearance on “Up & Adams,” Adams went on to explain that management changes are the way of the world amid poor performance in the NFL.
“It was something similar. [with Saleh] — Obviously, we’re not technically here for a head coaching change yet, but that’s happening in Las Vegas. “When things aren’t going right, you usually end up moving some things around,” said Adams, who experienced a midseason coaching change with the Raiders last season.
“We need to make some adjustments to the furniture. I expected it to come based on the scope of the season and how we looked as a team. They have to pass the buck or blame to someone, and often that blame falls on the coach or management. It’s like the way cookies crumble.
“Whether that is the right thing to do or not is not for me to judge. I just got here, and I keep hearing about how things work in this building and how things are done in this building. So I’m not here to talk about whether that’s supposed to happen or not. That’s just the way it usually goes.”
Still, Adams has no regrets sailing to the Jets.
“No, I don’t live like that.” Adams said. “We’re talking about playing Aaron Rodgers here… it’s not like taking a crazy gamble with an unproven rookie.”
