But Perez admitted he and the team may have their work cut out for them in terms of counter-attacking McLaren and Ferrari.

“We understood a lot of the problems we had in Mexico. When I did the first 10 laps in Mexico, they looked good and competitive,” he repeated. “But we must find [something] – If you look at the pace of McLaren and Ferrari, they seem to be on a different level in the last two races.
“I really hope we can be here together. We understand some of the problems, but it’s not clear how to solve them. It’s a different track, the altitude probably affected us more. [in Mexico]So let’s take a look. I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of where we are tomorrow.”
