Dentist charged after police find hidden camera in staff bathroom

WARETON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia dentist has been charged after a hidden camera was found in an employee bathroom at his office, according to police.

Dr. Jeremy Michael Crowe turned himself in to the Wearton Police Department on Monday. Crowe, 45, of Washington, Pennsylvania, was charged with 39 counts of misdemeanor invasion of privacy, Police Chief Charlie Kushee said in a news release.

A call to Crow’s office on Tuesday went straight to voicemail, and a message left with him was not immediately returned.

Crow’s attorney, Robert McCoyd of Wheeling, said in a statement that after reviewing the arguments, “we have concluded that the government’s case is weak at best. We look forward to testing the prosecution’s evidence in court and obtaining a not guilty verdict before a jury of his peers.”

The statement added that Crowe would continue his dental practice.

In May, Kushy said, an employee reported finding a camera inside a water bottle in a bathroom used by employees at Crow’s office. During the investigation, at least 10 female employees reported seeing the same device. Kushy said there was no evidence that cameras were installed in the office’s public bathrooms.

Crowe was released on $20,000 bail after being arraigned, according to a police statement.

Wearton is located about 35 miles (60 km) west of Pittsburgh.
