Another factor Lawson has had to adapt to is putting more focus on himself off the track as well as off it.

“Luckily I had some experience last year, so I was better prepared,” said the RB driver. “That’s probably one of the things we drivers don’t really do… It’s something you’re not really prepared for, and you just end up in trouble.

“We’re doing all this to get the car ready to drive as quickly as possible and to focus on that. But the reality, as you said, is that there’s a lot of off-track interest. “I’ve been trying to relax a little for the past three hours, but my phone has been blowing up so much that I’m going to have to get used to it.”

Despite the challenges ahead, Lawson said he is working hard and is grateful to those who have supported him in getting to this point.

He added, “Thank you to everyone who has been with me over the years leading up to this.” “Obviously it’s a huge journey and for me this is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a little girl.

“Obviously now we have another mountain to climb as we start the season and hopefully we can drive next year as well. “Hopefully this is the start of F1, but I’m so thankful, so I just want to say thank you to everyone.”
