Liverpool’s thrash spurs are in dominant form ⚽

Liverpool moved back to the top of the Premier League in style, moving four points clear with a crushing win over Tottenham. This was not just a victory, it was a declaration. Tottenham, riddled with injuries and fatigue, were no match for the tenacious Reds.

Dominance of the first whistle sound

Liverpool wasted no time. Luis Díaz nodded in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s perfect cross in the 23rd minute. In the 36th minute, Alexis Mac Allister doubled the lead with another header.

Tottenham were briefly given hope just before half-time when James Maddison scored a stunning goal, his eighth of the season. But that flicker of optimism disappeared when Mohamed Salah set up Dominik Szoboszlai for Liverpool’s third goal in stoppage time.

Salah’s record-breaking night

The second half was Salah’s game. The King of Egypt scored twice to break Billy Liddell’s long-standing Liverpool scoring record. Salah currently has 229 goals in 373 games. It’s an awe-inspiring feat considering it took Liddell 534 games to score 228 goals.

Szoboszlai, not satisfied with just one goal, rewarded Salah with his second goal. This Liverpool squad is full of situational players.

Spurs in chaos

Tottenham showed signs of life late. Dejan Kulusevski scored for the fifth straight game and Dominic Solanke added another goal. However, Diaz scored Liverpool’s sixth goal to push the scoreline clear.

It wasn’t just about the goal. The point was that Liverpool easily took advantage of Spurs’ absence. Ange Postecoglou’s men looked tired after their midweek Carabao Cup clash with Manchester United. Protests to chairman Daniel Levy before the game seemed to reflect discontent on the pitch.

Liverpool fans cheered loudly at the final whistle, confident their team has what it takes to reclaim the Premier League title. Meanwhile, Spurs will need more than a miracle to turn things around against the Reds in the upcoming EFL Cup semi-final.
