Drew Lock will remain Giants’ starting quarterback ‘health permitting’

The New York Giants (2-11) will have Drew Lock at quarterback this Sunday when they face the Baltimore Ravens (8-5) at MetLife Stadium.

Coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Lock’s condition is “health-wise acceptable” and that he is currently undergoing an MRI for “a few things.”

Lock left the field for Sunday’s game against the Saints but finished the game. Jon Runyan was replaced by rookie Jake Kubas and Tyler Nubin came out of the game multiple times.

Runyan and Nubin have played every snap whenever they have appeared in a game this season.

The injury list continues to grow for teams playing practice squad-level players in starting roles on both sides of the football.

On Sunday, the Giants had only one healthy captain in uniform. Long snapper Casey Kreiter. That’s because many key players are on injured reserve (IR) or unable to dress this week due to injuries.

The Giants have four games remaining, all against teams with postseason hopes. They will be playing with second and third stringers at many key positions.

Is this the team’s “soft tank” or just a situation? It could be both. There is no reason to play anymore and there is no point in getting an injured player back on the field if he is not at 100%.
