location: Toronto or Montreal are preferred, but other locations are also considered. Most Greenpeace Canada staff work from home, and also work from offices in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Salary: CAD 60,529 (prorated for part of service year)

About the role:

Are you ready to provide dynamic support to Greenpeace Canada’s senior management and board? Are you adept at organizing and communicating ideas, information and work in a compelling manner? Are you passionate about making positive change? Greenpeace Canada (GPCA) is looking for: Executive Assistant and Governance Coordinator Provide strategic support to the Executive Director and Senior Management, support the Board, and coordinate the organization’s governance processes and activities. The person in this role will sit alongside Senior Management and be a key part of Greenpeace Canada’s leadership structure.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in organizational dynamics and a desire to play a role in the management and governance of Greenpeace Canada. They will possess high levels of administrative and organizational skills. They will be able to anticipate challenges and opportunities and act proactively to meet them. As a strong communicator with emotional intelligence, they will be an effective conduit for the flow of information between senior management, the board and Greenpeace Canada staff in all directions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide strategic executive support to the Executive Director and assist in the overall coordination and management of the Executive Director’s Office (EDO). Sit with senior management and assist in coordinating their work.

2. Coordinates Greenpeace Canada’s governance activities. Works closely with the Executive Director and Board Chair and serves as the primary link between Greenpeace Canada’s senior management, Board and voting members. Prepares Board reports and manages Board processes.

3. Prepare, manage, track and report the EDO and governance budgets and manage the expenses of the Executive Director and Board members.

4. Structure and manage document flow for the Executive Director’s Office, Senior Management, and Board of Directors.

5. Comply with legal requirements for non-profit organizations (minutes, corporate documents, etc.).

6. Prepare and coordinate meetings and events, including board meetings.

7. Manage internal projects and provide support for key GPC initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a related position
  • High level of administrative, organizational and business management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and pursue multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to plan and implement projects with a high degree of independence
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information confidentially
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, excellent team player who contributes to a positive work environment
  • Comfortable working with diverse staff and teams, often remotely, across distances and borders
  • Bilingualism (English and French, as well as other languages) is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal, Inuit, or Métis languages ​​is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of other languages ​​is also highly desirable, reflecting the diversity of Canada’s diverse communities.

You will work with colleagues across Canada and collaborate with other Greenpeace offices around the world.
