FIA InterContinental Drifting Cup returns from Riga in 2025

The FIA ​​InterContinental Drifting Cup will return for a long time this year, which will be held in Latvia Riga from October 3 to 5. This event is held in Enieki with BI, the only permanent racing circuit in Latvia.

The event will collect the world’s best drift talents at the independent competition, which won the FIA ​​title for the first time since 2021. The last edition was held in Latvia capital and made Riga a familiar and suitable host for this famous event.

The 2025 edition of the FIA ​​IDC will be organized in cooperation with Latvian Automobile Federation (LAF), a FIA member club in Latvia. The LAF played an important role in securing the return of competition and showed the powerful passion and dedication to host the event in relation to Drift Latvia.

This year’s FIA IDC will introduce a unique sports format to strengthen and diversify international expressions and competition. Exhibits are open to all competitors who are willing to participate. However, the first entry stage will be prioritized to the FIA ​​member club to enter one competitor. This approach ensures a variety of competitive driver lineups that represent many countries.

The FIA ​​InterContinental Drifting Cup was first introduced as the first international drift competition in 2017. The IDC, designed to provide sports with structured and regulated international environments, gained popularity quickly and attracted the best drivers in the national and regional championships. The first three editions were held in a spiritual house of Japanese sports. Initially, before moving to the famous Tsukuba circuit in 2019 at the temporary location of Iba Iva, Tokyo.

The first FIA IDC won the local ACE MASATO KAWAWABATA and won the consecutive victory of the 2018 and 2019 Georgy Chivchyan. After a year of Hiatus, FIA IDC won the Irish James Deane in 2021.

While there was no FIA IDC, the main drift competition of the FIA ​​was held as part of the FIA ​​Motorsport game and attracted powerful and diverse items in the last two editions of Circuit Paul Ricard and Valencia Ricardo Tormo.
