FIA launches 3rd FIA Motorsport Engineering Scholarship

The FIA ​​has opened applications for the third FIA Motorsport Engineering Scholarship at Cranfield University.

The competitive program enables one student to complete a fully funded postgraduate degree at Cranfield, an internationally recognized professional postgraduate university.

This year, for the first time, prospective students can choose between two master’s programs: Advanced Motorsport Engineering or Advanced Motorsport Mechatronics. Mechatronics is a sought-after discipline where students learn how to integrate mechanical and electrical systems that can adapt to rapidly changing conditions within a racing environment.

The initiative was introduced by the FIA ​​President in 2022 to encourage diversity and inclusion and remove barriers to education for talented young people around the world.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “We are delighted to launch the third year of the FIA ​​Motorsport Engineering Scholarship. As a knowledge-driven organization, we have expanded our education and training opportunities through partnership programs overseen by FIA University. “This year’s scholarships will be another important step forward in this area for our Federation and our community.”

Muhammad Yasir from Pakistan has been awarded scholarship for 2023-2024. He succeeds Jessica Salvini, who won the first FIA Engineering Scholarship in 2022. This is a significant step forward in my professional journey, opening doors to opportunities I could only have imagined. This recognition motivates me to work harder and accept every challenge that comes my way with unwavering dedication.”

Cranfield University is one of the leading universities in motorsport. Global top 30 in mechanical and aerospace engineering. We have been carrying out extensive research, consulting and testing in the motorsport sector since the 1970s. The university is also an FIA approved university. Cranfield Impact Center and AXSIM Racing are both widely used by on- and off-road racing teams around the world.
