Fight against greenwashing

MONews
1 Min Read

We had a huge victory earlier this year when the federal government passed a strong new law against greenwashing, but now the oil lobby is fighting hard to weaken that law.

You can join this fight too.

The Competition Bureau is consulting with the public on how to apply the new rules. For all the interesting details, read the full submission Greenpeace submitted to the Competition Bureau. Please contact the Competition Bureau (find out how) here) Please tell them before September 27th:

Advertising the truth is unpopular with oil executives. We’ve deleted our website and social media feeds. While the bill has raised some dubious green claims since its passage, it remains popular with the general public. A poll conducted this week by the Angus Reid Forum and commissioned by Greenpeace Canada found Canadians overwhelmingly support the core of the new federal anti-greenwashing bill (Bill C-59), with 93 per cent supporting the statement that “companies should be penalized for making environmental claims that they cannot prove to be true.”

To all the oil executives who claim they are being silenced, we say this: All you have to do is tell the truth.
