Former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon has been announced as General Motors F1 project team leader.

Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Global’s Motorsports Division, added: “Graeme has been advising our team over the past two years as we have built our operations. His experience in both the technical and management aspects of Formula 1 and other motorsport ventures will be beneficial. He is a member of Cadillac Formula 1 “It’s him as well as building the team.”

General Motors President Mark Reuss also said: “Graeme has been a pleasure to work with over the past two years and we are delighted that he will lead our journey towards the 2026 Formula 1 grid as Team Principal. He has great racing expertise, knows how to build a high-performance team, and embodies the values ​​that the Cadillac Formula 1 Team represents in all its endeavors, both on and off the track.”

Laurence Barreto says:

Given how integral Graeme Lowdon has been in building the project agreed in principle with Formula 1 to bring General Motors/Cadillac into the sport as an 11th team in 2026, it is no surprise that he has been announced as team principal.

Lowdon has been an advisor to the US project for the past two years, which already has more than 280 staff, including former Renault technical director Nick Chester and former Renault operations chief Rob White.

The 59-year-old has extensive motorsport experience, including as chairman and sporting director of the Formula 1 team that started as Virgin Racing in 2010.
