Former Roma and Inter defender Cristian Chivu has discussed the next Serie A matchday involving his two former clubs.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello SportChivu spoke about Roma’s difficult start, their ambitions and how they compare to Inter.

“In fact, the international break is always a special time to prepare for the game. As a coach, you never know what to expect.”

“I think, first of all, from Juric’s point of view: he has just arrived and, moreover, he has seen players leave with the national team, but he does not know exactly in what form he will bring them back.”

“The biggest difference is that Inter have a precise playing identity. The group’s growth has been exceptional in every respect. “It almost plays like a mirror, but it’s actually an illusion.”

“Juric likes to mark people. So I say this will be the tactical key for Sunday’s game. The outcome will depend on what Roma can do by marking man and man everywhere.”

“The problem with the Giallorossi is that it usually comes out exactly when Inter are facing teams that play the way they know how to do best.”

“Rome? They already narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last season. Now we are going through a phase of great change. It’s not easy to absorb everything. “It remains to be seen how quickly the players will adapt to the new manager and his new style of play.”

“It’s also not easy. This is my third coach in less than a year. Of course, I think Roma should always aspire to play in the Champions League.”

“De Rossi? First of all, I would like to say that I experienced him as a teammate and opponent. And at that time it was already clear that he was destined to become a coach. He was that intelligent as a player.”

“I was surprised twice with him. The first was when I called him instead of Mou. “And now, I’ve renewed my contract for three years and let him go,” he said.

“It’s true that coaches need to be given time. This is especially true for those whose teams were completed in the final hours of the transfer window. “Teams are not created overnight.”
