Christian McCaffrey is back in practice for the San Francisco 49ers, and this development has brought them a great deal of hope and optimism despite a 4-4 record.

The All-Pro running back has yet to play this season due to Achilles tendonitis, but he is reportedly pain-free and appears set to make his season debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Star linebacker Fred Warner is one of many 49ers excited to have McCaffrey back on the field.

“It was nice to see him out there,” Warner said, via GOAT Farm Sports.

McCaffrey is such a big weapon for the Niners that his presence alone will draw a lot of defensive attention, making his teammates’ jobs easier.

Not only is he a standout rusher who led the NFL in rushing yards last season, but he is a true dual-threat RB who excels in the passing game, lining up outside as a receiver when needed.

He caught 67 passes for 564 yards and seven touchdowns and led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage and total touchdowns in 2023, earning Offensive Player of the Year honors.

San Francisco has been ravaged by injuries since training camp, but McCaffrey isn’t the only player who appears close to a return.

Wide receiver Jauan Jennings and kicker Jake Moody also returned to practice after missing multiple games, while defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos and offensive lineman Jon Feliciano had practice windows.

There is also hope that linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who tore his Achilles tendon in last season’s Super Bowl, may only be weeks away from returning.
