The New York Giants placed linebackers Bobby Okereke (back) and Patrick Johnson (knee) on season-ending injured reserve.
Okereke, who played every snap in 2023, last played on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys. He hasn’t missed a game since 2020.
The defensive captain finished his second season with the Giants recording 93 tackles (47 solo, six for loss), three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, three passes defended, two QB hits and 2.0 sacks.
Johnson suffered a knee injury during a Week 15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
In that roster move, the Giants signed safety Raheem Layne from the practice squad to the active roster. There is still one spot open.
Lastly, linebacker Boogie Basham and offensive lineman Tire Phillips were promoted from the reserve unit. For Basham, this is his first standard altitude of the year. He had two left.
Phillips was previously promoted ahead of the Week 14 game against the New Orleans Saints. There is only one altitude left for him this season.
