Roma’s legendary captain Giuseppe Giannini gives a lengthy interview. Sky Sports On his 60th birthday.
The Giallorossi captain looked back on his career and spoke about the current situation at the capital club.
“I came into the first team in a not-so-great era, but I was not discouraged. We rolled up our sleeves and tried to express the team’s values in the best way possible. Roma is not easy. I have seen many champions, and some have blossomed elsewhere.”
“I always wore that shirt, the number 10, with great pride and with my head held high. It was the way I played and lived, always clear and direct. I met great champions like Antognoni, Platini, Boniek, Zico, Van Basten, who were all in their 30s. To be honest, I met important teammates in many battles. We had fun and I’m happy about that.”
“I won the Italian Cup three times, the Austrian Cup and the Austrian Super Cup. I came from afar in the 1983 Scudetto, but I missed the last game because I was in a tournament with the U-16 team.”
“I experienced beautiful moments. There was the final, the semifinals, and I qualified. What matters is how I entered the stadium.”
“De Rossi? “Daniele is my disciple. I have always admired him. Just as I admire everyone who takes the Giallorossi shirt and the environment to heart. He is an intelligent person. He went in on tiptoe without much experience.”

“Dybala? “If there was a chance to score on Sunday, he made it. His value to the team is absolute, he is a protagonist who must always be protected and I will always protect him.”
“There are other things, other dynamics at the club that need to be respected. I hope he stays at Roma. It’s great to see him with Soulé and Pellegrini. I hope he stays.”
