Greenpeace Canada applauds the Mathur case and the Ontario Court of Appeal decision.

Toronto – Today the federal appeals court dominate Seven Ontario youth vote in favor of allowing their appeal. The judge will have to reconsider whether Ontario failed to establish a climate plan and goals for complying with the climate plan. charter truth. Commenting on the ruling, Priyanka Vittal, Greenpeace Canada’s legal advisor, declared:

“Today is a great victory for all Canadians. We all deserve a healthy future and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure this. While it is disappointing that action is delayed because the court has not ruled on the merits, this is a step in the right direction to respect climate rights. charter truth. The government is finally taking action on climate change, and Canadian courts are beginning to uphold this responsibility. We expect the Ford government to appeal this decision, which has almost completely violated environmental and climate laws in the region. Today we need climate action from our government and we should not be spending taxpayer dollars fighting it. “We stand with these brave young people fighting for us all.”

Greenpeace Canada, along with the Climate Litigation Network, intervened in the case and made submissions regarding the courts’ ability to determine the government’s fair share of emissions reductions.
