There have been theories for a while that a movie based on this popular character would be made, but the opportunity to make a Hatsune Miku movie never came until a video game created a potential plot.

The Hatsune Miku movie is scheduled to be released in Japan on January 17, 2025. However, there is no information yet on when the film will be released to international audiences. Based on previous anime films, it could be in late 2025, but it is still unclear whether it will be released theatrically in Japan or go straight to streaming services after its theatrical release in Japan.

To be fair, it probably depends on how well the movie sells in Japan and how much money the production team thinks they can make overseas. Hatsune Miku is incredibly popular worldwide, so it’s very possible that a Hatsune Miku movie would make a lot of money, but the team may wait until they have a better idea before announcing any more information about an overseas release.
