My immigrant Korean mother didn’t really understand my daily life, and I had a hard time finding things to talk about with her. But when Dooly came into our lives, we had a lot of stories to share about him. Now she sees herself as Dooly’s dog. grandma (Korean word for grandmother) He keeps asking if the grandmother should look after the child.”
Julia tells me about her unmissable routine: “I always try to fit a walk into my day. Since we don’t have a dog at home, I call it ‘walking the dog without the dog.’ It clears my head, refreshes me, and prepares me for a good night’s sleep.”
