History was made: Today, Democrats did not object to certifying a Republican victory for the first time since 1988 | gateway expert

For all their talk about ‘our democracy,’ Democrats have a terrible record when it comes to certifying Republican victories. They are generally against it and that is what everyone expected today.

Surprisingly, that didn’t happen today, and it was the first time since 1988. Can you believe it?

Here’s an important flashback:

This time everything was different.

WJLA News Reported:

Congress confirms Trump’s victory without objection

Members of Congress quickly certified President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the November election over Vice President Kamala Harris in an uncontested ceremony that set the stage for his return to the White House in two weeks.

The large-scale event marks a step closer to the height of Trump’s return to power after he left office in defeat four years ago after the Capitol riot that left some Republicans questioning whether they would find a new person to lead the party.

Congress quickly certified Trump’s 312-226 Electoral College victory over Harris unopposed, two weeks before he returns to the White House on Jan. 20 to become the 47th president of the United States.

The certification was overseen by Harris, who is constitutionally obligated to preside over a joint session of Congress to officially count the Electoral College votes, another blunt reminder that she lost the election to Trump. She has been largely out of the public eye since losing the election as she contemplates what her future holds, including the possibility of another presidential run.

People mentioned the historical aspect on Twitter/x.

I think everyone knows that this time it really is ‘too big to rig’.
