This time of year, everyone is crazy about pumpkin pie spice. Everything from pumpkin pie to homemade lattes is delicious, but apple pie spice is another fall favorite. Its intense flavor profile makes it the perfect addition to your spice cabinet.
What is Apple Pie Spice?
This delicious, aromatic spice blend is often used during the cold season to flavor apple pies and other apple dishes. It’s very similar to pumpkin pie spice, but in my version I omit the ground cloves and add cardamom instead. Some people do not like the taste of cardamom, so you can omit it depending on your preference.
You can add a few teaspoons of apple pie spice to sweet desserts, but you can use it just as well at home with savory dishes. This Bacon Apple Chicken recipe is a great example.
