How it works, rosters and more

There is already a lot of anticipation and hype going on for the 2024 WNBA season. But before then, all eyes will be on training camp and the final roster.

Whether you’re a new fan just watching or an OG who needs a refresher, here’s everything you need to know about training camp, who makes the training camp roster, who makes the roster cuts, and more.

For reference, the regular season opening date is May 14.

Once training camp begins:

Training camp is scheduled to begin April 28. Players must prepare for pre-season, which begins on May 3.

How it works:

This year’s WNBA draft participants, as well as current players and players invited to the camp, will arrive at their respective teams and begin training. Everyone is competing for space.

Who’s on the training camp roster?

Teams have already begun announcing their training camp rosters. I’ll update you below.

What happens next?

As Laeticia Amihere of the Atlanta Dream shared on TikTok, not everyone will be included in the official team roster. There are 144 roster spots across the league, with each of the 12 teams having up to 12 spots available.

The final roster cut date is May 13.

What happens if my favorites are deleted?

Just because a player has been removed from the roster doesn’t mean their hoop dreams are over or that you should stop supporting your favorite player. Some choose to advance overseas, while others have difficulty signing a contract even after the regular season begins.
