If you’re looking to buy a new phone, now might not be the best time to buy an iPhone. Self-abandoned If you need a replacement, just wait a few days, because Apple’s new iPhones are being unveiled on Monday. That means you can pick up the company’s latest and greatest, or get an iPhone 15 at a very discounted price very soon. The Apple event will take place on September 9 at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT) at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino. Apple’s The Glowtime event is happening on YouTube. As far as new products go, we expect to see four new iPhone models announced: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Don’t expect a huge leap forward from the iPhone 15, which Senior Editor Billy Steele called “the most substantial update to the regular iPhone in years.” Instead, the main push will likely center around iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence. On the hardware side, we expect to see a more powerful processor than usual, a slight tweak to the screen size, and a new dedicated camera button on the Pro models.

In addition to the iPhones, we’ll likely see new Apple Watch models (either the Series 10 or Series “X,” and possibly the Ultra 3) and new AirPods in both the entry-level and Pro-level models. You can read more about everything we expect from the event in our in-depth article on what to expect from the iPhone 16 launch.

Anyone who doesn’t plan on buying a new Apple device this year will still have access to the latest iOS 18 update in late September, as long as their device is eligible (check here). Here’s everything included in this year’s iOS 18 update, plus Apple Intelligence and more Home screen customization options.

Engadget’s Cherlynn Low and Billy Steele will be in Cupertino liveblogging the iPhone event, so stay tuned for real-time news and analysis on September 9.
