The offense hit some very good highs but hit some significant lows on the night.

Starting with the good stuff, rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. has been phenomenal all season, totaling 150 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 22 touches in Week 8. Rookie of the Year candidate Malik Nabers also had a solid game, recording seven catches for 73 yards. Lastly, Darius Slayton had 108 yards on four receptions.

With the help of big games from these three players, the Giants recorded 394 yards of total offense but just one touchdown.

This is the result of a combination of three factors, none of which are new.

The first is untimely drops. Nabers had two dropped balls that could have led to extended drives, and other players had two dropped balls as well.

Second, Jones couldn’t make big plays when needed. He often knocked down receivers at critical moments during the game, and even forced a fumble in the red zone late in the fourth quarter. The quarterback also missed a pass badly on the final offensive drive of the game, resulting in an interception.

Lastly, the offensive line has struggled to protect quarterbacks for years, a problem that has only gotten worse due to Andrew Thomas’ injury. Jones was sacked four times and hit 12 times that night.
