President Joe Biden visited Florida on Sunday to tour communities affected by Hurricane Milton.
During his visit, the President announced more than $600 million in funding for grid resiliency projects to further strengthen the state’s capacity to respond to future storms.
So far, at least 23 people have died as a result of Hurricane Milton, which made landfall Wednesday night as a Category 3 hurricane, spawning dozens of tornadoes, waves as high as 28 feet, high winds, heavy rain and devastating storm surge.
A tornado caused by a hurricane killed six people at a St. Lucie County retirement village after creating 12 twisters in the area within 20 minutes.
While Floridians returned home and surveyed the damage in their communities, officials warning That major flooding could still hit north of Tampa.

“Americans who need help, Americans who would help if they were in a similar situation. We are one America. One America.”
Florida investments include $47 million for Gainesville Regional Utilities and $47 million for Switched Source to partner with Florida Power and Light.
These projects will form part of the state’s long-term recovery from Hurricanes Milton and Helen, which struck the state in less than two weeks, from late September when Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm until this Wednesday.
