While appearing on hit sports show ‘Get Up’, Kiefer revealed what he thinks the top three candidates would look like. In his rankings, Sanders was ranked behind Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward and fellow Buffaloes teammates. travis hunter.
Although third overall is not a huge drop in the rankings, there was some expectation and belief that Sanders might be selected first overall this April. While it’s still a possibility, Kiper explained how he thinks Sanders is the best quarterback, his recent discussion illustrates that the Buffaloes’ QB is far from a guarantee of the No. 1 overall pick.
What did Mel Kiper say about Shedeur Sanders?
Kiper explained how Sanders fell to third place in the latest rankings.
“Shedeur Sanders will fall to third place,” he elaborated. Kiper went on to explain what Sanders could bring to the New York Giants if he were to be drafted by the organization.
“He is surgical in the way he conducts his business. He completes a high percentage of his passes. He’s definitely a super tough guy in that pocket. Their instincts and awareness are also excellent,” Kiper added.

In many ways, Sanders being drafted by the Giants makes sense for both parties. For the Giants, this would give them the long-term solution in quarterback they have been looking for since Eli Manning’s retirement.
From Sanders’ perspective, he will be joining a dynamic offense that already features wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Sanders’ PFN 2025 NFL Draft Projection
Despite Kiper’s recent comments, Sanders was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans in Pro Football Network’s recent seventh-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
“The Titans are in an interesting spot. Brian Callahan clearly needs a new name under center for his offense. His relationship with Will Levis is tumultuous at best, and he should have enough security for Sanders to develop over the next year or two.
“Sanders is not a finished product. He’s the most accurate quarterback in the class by a significant margin, and considering he survived poor college protection throughout his career, he could work within the NFL timeline. “His physical limitations are lower than Cam Ward’s, but the same palpable frustration Callahan feels with Levis will be felt with Ward, who by any definition is an old-school gunslinger.”
